Westside Kickboxing Covid-19 mitigation plan as mandated by Provincial health authorities:
All members MUST stay home if experiencing cough, fever, chills, sore throat or painful swallowing, shortness of breath, loss of smell, stuffy or runny nose, headache, muscle ache or loss of appetite. You will be temperature screened and asked if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms before entering the gym. Coaches have been trained to self screen following WorkSafeBC guidelines.
All members MUST stay home if you have come into contact with anyone sick, self-isolating or quarantined. Please follow all Federal guidelines if you have recently travelled including a 2 week self-isolation period.
Before entering the gym, all members MUST
(1) scan your membership card so we have a record of who’s been in every class
(2) sanitize your hands at the front door
(3) allow a staff member to screen your temperature and ask if you’re displaying any symptoms.
These 3 procedures are mandatory and you will not be allowed to enter until doing so.
Everybody MUST follow physical distancing guidelines and remain 2m (6ft) apart from each other in the gym. There will be no physical contact (partner drills, partner padwork, clinching, sparring, high fives, hugs, hand shakes, etc). Any padwork will be conducted by coaches only while wearing full face shields and using sanitized Thai Pads.
Class size is limited to 12 persons maximum. You must use our online booking system to reserve your spot in class. We will not allow any walk-ins, drop-ins & won’t allow anyone inside the gym that isn’t participating in class.
Please come to class already changed & ready to train. Only bring the equipment you need (gloves/wraps) in a gym bag and keep everything contained (wallet, phone, water bottle) inside your bag. Place your coat, shoes & gym bag in the labelled, individual bins.
Please come to class no more than 5-10 minutes early so that we can maintain a safe number of bodies inside the gym. Please line up outside (with physical distancing) until we permit you to come in so we don’t surpass the maximum number of bodies inside.
Washrooms are closed off except for dire emergencies. Showers are unavailable at this time.
Our main door is 1-way ENTRANCE ONLY and everyone MUST exit through the building’s main lobby. Please follow directional markings on the floor.
No shared gear (skipping ropes, pads, targets, gloves, safety gear, etc) and no communal equipment. (chairs, foam rollers, water dispenser) BRING YOUR OWN FILLED WATER BOTTLE. Use the labelled individual bins for each person’s jacket, gym bag & shoes.
Masks are NOT mandatory but coaches will wear them when appropriate and members may wear them as an option.
Multiple sanitation stations are placed around the gym. You must disinfect your equipment BEFORE and AFTER use with our Health Canada approved disinfectants and single use paper towels.
Multiple hand sanitizer bottles are placed around the gym and you must sanitize your hands regularly.
We will be ending all classes 5-10 minutes early (for the time being) so that we can disinfect all heavy bags and high touch surfaces before each class. Floors & surfaces will be disinfected every evening.
Respect the markings on the floor that direct foot traffic. Respect the markings on the mats that keep you within your heavy bag station and 6ft away from other members.
These guidelines are mandated by health authorities and we will adhere to them strictly. All measures are in place to ensure your safety. Please be patient & understanding as we navigate through the pandemic. The gym can stay open only if we follow these protocols and they are the best way to minimize risk of transmitting the Covid-19 virus.
