Rey del Rosario – Owner / Head Instructor

I’ve been training, competing and teaching some form of martial arts for over 30 years.  I’ve competed all across North America, taught students in age from 5 years to 65 years and operated my own club for almost 2 decades.  I wake up excited every day to get on the mats to train, teach and learn more.  I still get pumped to sweat, suffer and overcome obstacles together with my team of assistants and all my students.  I’ve learned so much in the 30 or so years I’ve been involved in martial arts…combat techniques, fitness techniques, teaching & learning techniques…but what I find to be most valuable are the friendships I’ve made along the way.  I wouldn’t trade that for a million dollars!  Hope to see you training with us soon!

I have been training with Westside for 6 years now and love everything about it. The positive energy of the people and the community is both inspiring and infectious.  I have dabbled in a lot of different martial arts and sports from Capoeira to Crossfit but fell in love with the sport of Kickboxing. A trip to Thailand to train Muay Thai in 2012 sealed my love affair. I am thrilled to be part of the instructor team at Westside. I am so excited to learn from the students as I assist and look forward to celebrating their successes.

I have been training at Westside Kickboxing for over 8 years. Muay Thai has totally changed the way I live. I started Martial Arts with Savate (French kickboxing) and Capoeira but I really fell in love with Muay Thai and Thai culture . I since visited Thailand to train and eat spicy green curry with locals. Every time I walk into Westside doors, I forget about my bad day and know training will put me out of my comfort zone , but always with a combination of hard work, focus and fun (and sweat). I’m really thrilled to be able to share my experience as an instructor, especially as I want to become a personal trainer. Or maybe just because Westside Kickboxing is family.

Natalie Wiarda – Assistant Instructor

I started training Westside in the spring of 2014, never having belonged to any sport. Muay Thai at Westside was my first venture into the world of athletics, and it has truly transformed my body and mind. The non threatening environment has helped me increase my confidence and discipline, both on and off the mats. Every class kicks my ass, and yes, I throw up a lot- but I keep coming back for more! I’m humbled to be a part of the instructor team, I love helping people develop techniques and witnessing those breakthrough moments.
